Video response.

I thought this video was very eye-opening. When everyone is stuck looking at our phones we miss out on the opportunities to truly communicate with people face to face. Our generation is becoming one that is lost without technology. It's sad because we miss out on chances that shouldn't pass us by. I believe everyone, including myself, should put down the phones more so we can enjoy the company of those around us.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page is the first page of a website that the user sees first before given the option to continue to the main content of the website. Normally Splash pages are used to promote a company, service, or product. Used to inform the user what kind of browser is necessary in order to view the rest of the site's pages.

Status update! Tell me where you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I need more time. I have about 4 pages finished other than my index. This is because on block last week I was unsure how to link up pages or create a new page from the drop down menu. After a bit of research I figured it out though. I could be finished by block.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

This Spring Break my family and I went to Tulsa, Oklahoma for four days to visit old friends. When I was in 3rd grade we moved from Tulsa to Overland Park, so it was nice seeing friends that I haven't seen in a few years. When I returned home I took a class to get my Red Cross Lifeguard certification. I also received a job for this summer as a lifeguard and camp counselor at Lifetime Fitness. Other than that I had soccer practice at the high school, and I got my hair cut 5 inches.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

Yes I am caught up. It helps when I manage my time and don't get overly-concerned with one part of the project. Small check points help keep me on task to know what I need to complete in a day, so yes I enjoy having them.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

My products are accessories, which isn't too unique, but the design of my website is going to be different than others. My color scheme and designs will complement my products. For example, each drop down menu may be color coordinated with the products listed under it.

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

I have chosen accessories to sell because there are many different categories that fit under accessories. For example- jewelry, scarfs, belts, hats, etc.

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design yesterday? Go in to detail.

One thing I learned was the background should be opposite colors from the text or else it will blend together. You also want to have colors that complement each other and look good together. For example Hollister used navy and white, but the text was a dark red so it stood out and looked good but didn't blend with the navy. Another example was the Kansas City Star. It used teal and white.

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

A color scheme can make a website more organized and appealing to the viewer. It makes it look like everything has a purpose and is not all random. It could make it worse if you don't use enough colors, or if you use too many. Color is appealing- it makes the website more interesting.

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

The file type that we created on the travel travel website was Photoshop to PNG. It was new to us because we haven't used it in the past until this website. Some other types of files I know of include InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft files which can be saved as JPEGs and PDFs.

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

My take away from the travel site is that I learned how to build a website that includes roll overs and moving images. I also learned how to add pictures on the page without using a table. I didn't know how to do this before. I can use this information on future websites to include effects on my page, other than basic fundamentals.

I am sort of familiar with Photoshop, but not an expert. I know that the photographers in newspaper use it often to COB and edit the photos we put in the paper. I know that there are many different tools on the program that can be used to edit pictures or create new backgrounds for the pictures.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

It is important that my site is easy to navigate around so that it is easy to use for almost everyone. Clear access to links and distinct pages are important because people need to know how the website is set up, even if they are not the creator (me).

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

I didn't go to Sweetheart because of soccer, but I hung out with some of my friends who didn't go to Sweetheart as well. We all bought a lot of snacks and watched movies. It was fun, but different to miss out on getting dressed up and taking cute pictures. It was still a lot of fun to look at the pictures of my friends who did go to the dance.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I thought the HTML coding activity was very beneficial. I learned more than what I already knew. I understand now that you can use HTML code to set up different styles of websites. I also learned that you can view the HTML code of an already created website from almost any computer. I don't know if I am going to remember all of the coding rules based on the activity, but it did help me learn more about the topic itself.

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? How do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

I know that plagiarism is when you take credit for someones work, and claim it as your own. Sometimes people take the work from the internet. I think that web design, the internet, and plagiarism effect each other because someone could take a layout from one website and use it as their own. That is considered plagiarism.
